Shahid Still Have Faith In Love

February 19th, 2009 by Neet |

ImageActor Shahid Kapoor was on a rollers coaster ride for last two years. At one point when he was high on his career, the same point he was low with his personal life. But the actor is enjoying every phase of his life and looking forward to a bright future and love as well. Despite the much talked break up between him and Kareena, Shahid still have faith in love as he says, “Life throws googlies at you. You catch some, you miss some! But, I haven’t lost faith in love. I am like any normal guy. I would love to fall in love again. But, as of now, I am single.”

After his break up with Kareena, he was continuously in news for the rumors of his links ups with Vidya Balan, Sania Mirza and the latest Priyanka Chopra. On that note Shahid says, “Well, what can I say? It’s very sweet of people to keep linking me up with somebody or the other. I think they just hate to see me single.” But the actor is moved on and has good line-up of work ahead. His next projects include Vishal Bharadwaj’s Kaminey, Yash Chopra’s untitled along with Rani Mukherjee, Ken Ghosh’s dance film, Ahmed Khan’s Paathshala and father Pankaj Kapoor’s directorial venture for which he is feeling nervous.

When he asked about whether he feels the competition from the new talent coming every year and the over forty superstars in the industry? The charming Shahid replied with the smile, “For me, the only competition every actor has is from his own self and his last performance. As long as an actor is improving, he is on his way up already. The seniors have set the bars so high that it’ll ensure that only the best and the most deserving make it to the top. So, more than pressure, it’s inspiring. And I’m really looking forward to this journey.”

I Haven’t Lost Faith in Love: Shahid

February 19th, 2009 by Jasbir Kaur |

ImageThe past two years have been one roller-coaster ride for Shahid Kapoor — on a professional high in one instant, on a personal low in the next. Even in 2009, it is promising to see Shahid on a high, both personally and professionally. “Yes, life’s good and I am really enjoying this phase of my life,” says the actor.
After all, it’s hard not to be happy when you’ve been voted the youth icon in an online poll, got six films in hand and a bagful of endorsements. All that in spite of missing from the scene for almost a year now. “I’m all set to make up for my long absence.

Being voted as a youth icon is both an honour and very encouraging too. The year has begun on a good note and I don’t want to look back at all,” says Shahid flashing a smile that convinces you that Kareena Kapoor’s indeed a thing of the past. And, never mind that, the duo only recently completed the dubbing for Milenge Milenge, the film that the two had shot when still a couple, Shahid insists he’s moved on and is happy for Bebo too. However, what he’s not been able to put behind him are the rumours of numerous link-ups, the latest one being with hottie Priyanka Chopra, his co-star in Kaminey. “Well, what can I say? It’s very sweet of people to keep linking me up with somebody or the other. I think they just hate to see me single,” laughs Bollywood’s Prince Charming.

Has the past experience left a bitter taste? “Life throws googlies at you. You catch some, you miss some! But, I haven’t lost faith in love. I am like any normal guy. I would love to fall in love again. But, as of now, I am single,” Shahid sets the record straight. And adds quickly, “I would rather have people talk about my work.” That shouldn’t be difficult considering his interesting line-up of work — Vishal Bharadwaj’s Kaminey, that sees him play a double role for the first time; Ken Ghosh’s dance film; Yash Chopra’s untitled where he’s paired opposite Rani Mukerji; Ahmed Khan’s Paathshala in which he’s done a cameo; and finally his dad Pankaj Kapoor’s directorial venture. “I am nervous about that one,” he says.

Looking fitter than ever before, and his shirt giving away the slightest indication of the eight-packs he’s been hiding under it, Shahid insists that it’s got nothing to do with hitching on the eight-pack bandwagon. “I’ve always been keen to experiment with my looks as well as my characters on screen, but it’s only of late, that I’ve finally got a chance to do so. And, I’m making the most of it,” says the actor, who’s unwary of moving away from his romantic hero-image.

The young heart-throb is also unfazed when it comes to competition that the new talent coming in every year brings with it, and the over-forty-six-pack-brigade that seems to have almost turned back time. “For me, the only competition every actor has is from his own self and his last performance. As long as an actor’s improving, he’s on his way up already. The seniors have set the bars so high that it’ll ensure that only the best and the most deserving make it to the top. So, more than pressure, it’s inspiring. And I’m really looking forward to this journey,” smiles Shahid. And, it looks exciting.

Kaminay Movie Preview

February 18th, 2009 by Neet |

ImageAfter two genuinely witty and terse take on the Shakespeare plays McBeth and Hamlet, the multi talented Vishal Bharadwaj has taken a step into commercial action finally. Kaminay, an action packed thriller, that is scheduled to release this year on 27th March, has been shrewdly kept under wraps and not much is known except the common assumption that the hero and heroine would be shady characters or the eponymous Kaminay. The two have jumped into new territories with the flick and with the mystic director at the helm, should come up with flying colors.

Priyanka Chopra has surprisingly taken bold roles both in terms of the context of stories and content of clothes of late, as she was being comfortably wrapped in her in-between movies. This movie takes this trait of hers to the zenith with a few mind boggling smooches and great intimate scenes. Reportedly, the scenes have been shot aesthetically, but frankly, with horde of adult movies coming, nobody is going to complain. Shahid Kapoor has worked on his body and is following the footsteps of the Khans and Sunny with a macho look and to add to the effect also grown facial hair.

Going by the look of it, the movie should have much sizzle and action both. The script and music go to Vishal’s credit apart from direction and so there is every chance of brilliance on those ends. But as Vishal has been adapting screenplays in the previous ventures, we keep our fingers crossed for this one to be an original. Amol Gupte is in a vital role.

I’m Not Going To Get A Girlfriend: Shahid Kapur

February 17th, 2009 by Neet |

ImageAlways a charming young boy jostling for space in the middle of Bollywood heroes on the wrong side of forty, Shahid Kapur says that his friends have steadily dwindled over the years. “I have a handful of friends left and all of them are from outside the film industry. I am happy this way,” Shahid says from Jaipur where he is shooting for a Yash Raj film with Rani Mukerji.

Also, the year-long relentless yarn spinning by the rumour mills seems to have taken its toll. “The way I am being projected as a serial dater, I am sure that I’m not going to get a girlfriend anytime soon,” he quips. But did he or did he not send a congratulatory message to Sania (Mirza) after her win at the Australian Open? “Isn’t that a normal thing? The whole world congratulated her…” retorts Shahid. Sure, but the world hasn’t been linked up with her!

Shahid admits that he seldom tries to clarify things. “I never ask whether you like it in the kitchen or in the bathroom. Then why do it to me? Don’t other people go through break-ups? Or, for that matter, see another person afterwards? Is there anybody who has felt comfortable talking about it? If I want some personal space for myself, let me have it, nah?” Shahid promises not to take up the pen (or the keyboard) to let people have a peek into his life. “Though my grandfather (Anwar Azeem) was a noted journalist and I remember spending a large part of my childhood at the Press Enclave in New Delhi, I probably will not join the blogger’s club or for that matter declare that this is me on a social networking site.”

His survival mantra is his never-give-up attitude. The flops, the actor says, are like hard knocks on the face. “It’s like a boxing ring, you know. I have had more misses than hits but the fact is that I am still there, fighting. And trust me, I am going to fight till the very end!”

As for his stint of duds, the actor says, flops are like hard knocks on the face. “It’s like a boxing ring, you know. I have had more misses than hits but the fact is that I am still there, fighting. And trust me, I am going to fight till the very end.

ImageBollywood’s much talked jodi Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur who had a much talked about break up not very long ago will be seen together. But it’s not a new film. It’s a film that has been pending for long. The film is Boney Kapoor’s ‘Milenge Milenge’ directed by Satish Kaushik.
